Day 2 - Match #2 and Arrival in San Juan del Sur

After some much needed rest, we started today out with another match against the Nicaraguan Senior team. Unfortunately. our physical bodies were more rested than our mental game was. It was a great learning experience for us about how to stay mentally tough through exhaustion and distractions. We lost 0-3 to our hosts this morning and boarded our bus en route to San Juan del Sur.

Our fearless leader Brooke!

Once again, Brooke arranged a wonderful lunch en route, and we had some amazing views of the country side during our two hour drive. We also got our first glimpse of the enormous Lake Nicaragua with the two volcanoes located in the middle of it.

This bus was full of people, so this guy had the best seat on the bus!

Our bus looked like this all the way down!

San Juan del Sur

It did not take us long after our arrival in San Juan del Sur to get checked into our hotel and make our way to the beach located directly across the street. After watching the sunset over the Pacific, we headed to dinner at an Italian restaurant and then to the ice cream parlor for some dessert! Here is Claressa's account...

"The first glimpse of the beach was today! It was incredible to have a mountain range as the backdrop of the ocean along with Christ with his hand outstretched watching over us. Upon arriving to San Juan del Sur, we all immediately changed into our suits and christened the ocean with a dive. This was the first time I have been in the Pacific, and the water was great! However, we all got a friendly visitor at least once called “aqua viva”, meaning “live water”. I was exposed to what this was on a previous trip to the Dominican. It is small jellyfish that cannot be seen, but can definitely be felt. We are all fine. It just felt like an ant bite, but it was interesting to see that aqua viva is here as well as in the Caribbean. Tomorrow we’ll be going sailing and zip lining which will be extremely exciting. Please pray for me as we zip line, because I am terrified of heights. However, I know that I need to do it, if just for the simple fact that it is a once in a lifetime chance. Please continue to read our blog, and I hope there are plenty of pictures for all. I know cameras are flashing about every five minutes here. WE ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME!!!!!"

Tomorrow will be a full day of fun. We will start in the morning with a zipline canopy tour and spend the rest of the day sailing and hanging out on the beach. Not a bad way to spend spring break, huh? Nos gustan la playa mucho!

  3. Great pictures. We bet Nikki didn't stay in the water long with the little jelly-fish. She was probably making sure everyone had enough sunscreen. Ha ha. Hope the sailing and canopy tour were awsome today. Still praying
